about

Snake is what Gen Z needs: pop music with a point. It is about digital pervasiveness and the vacuity of a virtual life. Its conscious lyricism and cultural currency sensitively explores the very human concern about our increasing dependence upon a screen. Pensive verses burst into a euphoric chorus, in an uplifting and empowering mood shift. With a chorus as catchy as it is angsty, its a great song to vent and sing along to. It is the first single from our second EP We Played Snake Till Snake Played God. We wrote, produced and recorded Snake independently, an important standard for women in music.

lyrics

Now I don’t want to write

A song about a mobile phone

‘Cos life is somewhere else.

And I don’t want to cry

About how we are all alone.

It’s not good for my health.

Won’t someone tell me where that life is?

It’s here they say.

But who on earth gave life that mobility?

(Who on earth?)

Where is air and where’s tranquillity?

(Where is that?)

Gone is lust and gone is mystery.

How our hearts are held to their history.

Now who thought that was a good idea?

It’s a very clever way to communicate

To communicate our hate

Who thought that was a good idea?

Let me tell you

Life’s not here.

No life's not here, here.

Now I don’t want to fight

We’d never do this face to face

Our life is somewhere else.

And now I’ve made you cry.

How I wish I could erase

Those lies I’ve never felt.

Won’t someone tell me where that life is?

It’s here they say.

But who on earth gave life that mobility?

(Who on earth?)

Where is air and where’s tranquillity?

(Where is that?)

Gone is lust and gone is mystery.

How our hearts are held to their history.

Now who thought that was a good idea?

It’s a very clever way to communicate

To communicate our hate

Who thought that was a good idea?

Let me tell you

Life’s not here.

No life's not here, here.

Who on earth gave life that mobility?

Where is air and where’s tranquillity?

Yes, who on earth gave life that mobility?

And who on earth is giving life?
